There are lots of great professional drawing apps out there, but those apps are horrible for getting started — use Idea Pen!
Idea Pen is a Drawable-Search app for getting started.
Idea Pen recognizes your handwriting:
1. Describe what you intend to draw in words.
2. Using the Command tool (⌘), draw a Lasso through what youve written and tap "Ideas" ( see App Previews).
3. Idea Pen will reveal an image collection with which to begin drawing; drag images onto the Canvas and trace them out or work on your hand-eye coordination.
*new: Keep your workspace organized by eliminating unwanted results. Select results to be removed ( Press+Hold, then release) to reveal an option to "Remove Item". Remove an entire group of results by selecting the first item in the group.
Idea Pen can provide color-proportion suggestions:
Using the Command tool (⌘), draw a Lasso through or around what youve drawn and tap "Color Proportion Ideas" ( see App Previews).
Idea Pen works with your fingers and Apple Pencil.
- The Marker tool draws finger-touches to match the width of your touch, and draws the selected color lightly ( half-opacity). Subsequent touches add color and opacity.
- Press+Hold the Canvas for Colors & Tools.
- tap a color to select it; color options will update with complementary colors
- press+hold on a color option to reveal its adjacent colors
- rotate the color wheel to adjust the saturation of the selected color
- press+hold the center to return to the default color set
- tap the center to change tools
- drag the Colors & Tools wheel to any convenient spot, or flick upwards on it to dismiss.
- Using a single finger, flick left to Undo, right to Redo.
- Using the Command tool (⌘) lasso anything on the Canvas and use familiar gestures to rotate, relocate or scale ( see App Previews).
Consider adding Idea Pen to your workflow as a utility & devote heavy-weight tasks to other apps: Copy-Paste your work into the Notes app or elsewhere to save it; paste into a more advanced drawing app toward a finished product. Work may be dragged onto the Idea Pen Canvas from any app that supports Drag & Drop.
